Q. How do I use the Bad Uncle website?

A. In order to use the Bad Uncle website and our service you will need to register with us. Once you have registered your details you will be able to use the site.

Q. How do I add recipients to my account?


A. In order to add a recipient to your account you must be logged in. From “Your Account” page select the icon “Add Recipient”. Fill out all the details required for that recipient and click the “Add Now” button at the bottom of the page.

On the following page you will need to add occasions for that recipient eg: Birthday, Anniversary, Retirement etc… If you don’t know the date of the occasion, don’t worry. By clicking the “I’m All Done” button at the bottom this will save the recipients details and you can come back later and add an occasion.

If you only added the recipient without adding an occasion then these details will be listed on your main account page under the "Incomplete Details" section. To add an occasion for your recipient just click the button marked "Add Now" and add the occasion. When you have added an occasion for your recipient their details will then appear in your main calendar.

When you’re finished adding occasions for a recipient, click the “I’m ALL Done” button to finalise things.

Q. How do I add an occasion for a recipient?

A. In order to add an occasion for a recipient you will need to be logged in. From “Your Account” page select the icon “Add Occasion”. On the following page select the person that you wish to add an occasion for and click the “Add Now Button”.

On the following page you will have the option to add the occasion, the date of the occasion, the gift budget and the personal message that you want to include on the gift for that occasion. Click the “Add Now” button and the details will be added to the table below.

If you add an occasion without adding a date it will be listed in the table below as TBC (To Be Confirmed). When the event date has been confirmed the "Pay Now" button will appear in your calendar details to allow you to pay for your gift.

Q. What is the “Details Requester” and how do I use it?

A. When you add a recipient to your Bad Uncle account we understand that you may not know the recipients date of birth. Our system can email your recipient for you and ask them for their details on your behalf. Simply click the “request details” box on the add recipient page and, once you have supplied your recipients email address, we will contact them. Don't worry; we never reveal to them that you are using Bad Uncle. The email will be from our sister company www.perfectlygiftedforyou.co.uk. The gift will also be sent from Perfectly Gifted Ltd making it look like you ordered it yourself. Here is a sample of the email that we send when we ask for their details.

When the recipient responds to our email and supplies us with their date of birth and address details, your account will be updated automatically.

If they do not respond, the status of the birthday request will remain as requested 1. You can request the birthday details again and the status will change to requested 2. You can request a birthday as many times as you want. Each time you request the details the status will change accordingly.

Alternatively, if you have no luck getting the details using our system then you may have to manually do it. You may have to just ask them when their birthday is.

*Important - If you use the request details facility the default gift budget is £10 unless you specify otherwise. Please make sure that you select/change the budget in order for us to supply the right gift to your recipient.

Q. If I send a “Details Request” I don’t want my friend/relative to know that I am using Bad Uncle to send gifts on my behalf, how does Bad Uncle deal with this?

A. We never let on that you are using the Bad Uncle website to send gifts. Our email will be a simple request for information that will ask them to fill in their details on our sister website – www.perfectlygiftedforyou.co.uk. All gifts sent will be from Perfectly Gifted Ltd making it look like you ordered the gift yourself.

Q. How can I check the status of Details Request?

A. On the “My Account” page above your calendar there is a “Birthday Request” button. If you click on this button it will take you to a page listing all your recipients birthday details.

Q. How do I edit details for a recipient?

A. In order to edit details for a recipient you will need to be logged in. From “Your Account” page select the icon “Edit Recipient”. On the following page select the person that you wish to edit details for and click the “Edit” button. On the following page you will have the option to edit the details of the recipient.

When you’re done making changes to the recipient click the “Save My Changes” button at the bottom of the page.

Q. How do I edit an occasion for a recipient?

A. In order to edit an occasion for a recipient you will need to be logged in. At the bottom of your “My Account” page there is a calendar that records all events for all recipients. Select the “Edit” button for the person you want to edit occasions for.

On the following page you will see all the occasions listed for that person. If you want to edit the date of the occasion just click in the box where the date is already displayed and select a new one from the pop up calendar. If you need to edit the budget for that person you can also select your new budget from the drop down menu.

When you have edited the occasion/budget, click the “Save” button to update the changes. If you want to delete an occasion entry click the “Delete” button at the end.

Q. What does "My Account Credit " mean?

A. On your main account page you will see your account credits which is a record of any credits you have with Bad Uncle. Here is an example of the way the credit system works:

If you have an occasion for a recipient and your budget for that occasion was £20, we would contact you to advise you on what we had chosen and based on your approval of our gift choice we would send the gift out after we had received your payment. We would advise you of the cost of the gift at the time of informing you of our gift choice and instruct you of the final total, lets say £19. In this instance there would be no credit because you only pay the exact amount of what we tell you the cost of the gift is at the time of informing you of the gift choice.

However, if you pay before we inform you of the gift choice then the amount you would pay would be whatever your gift budget was for your recipient, which was £20. If we then inform you of our gift choice and the cost which was £19 then there would be a credit of £1 added to your account for you to use next time.

Q. What promotional codes can I use and when can I use them?

A. You can use a promotional code at anytime as long as it hasn't expired.

If you are signing up for a new account and have a promotion code you can enter that when you register. If you have another promotion code that you want to use you can use that to claim your discount.

Q. How do I delete a recipient from “My Account”?

A. If you want to delete a recipient from your account, select the “Delete Recipient” icon from “My Account” page. On the following page you will need to select the name of the person that you wish to delete from your account.

You will be asked to confirm that you wish to proceed or alternatively you can change your mind and cancel.

Q. How do I view my order details?

A. If you want to view the status of your orders placed with Bad Uncle, select the “Order History” icon on the “My Account” page. The following page will display a list of orders that you have with us their status, either: Dispatched, Processing, Paid or Awaiting Payment.

Q. What services does Bad Uncle provide?

A. You are able to build up details of all the people you want to send gifts to throughout the year on various occasions. Using the information you provide, we, the gift experts, select the perfect present and contact you a few weeks before the date with our recommendation. If you want to go ahead you simply pay for the present itself through Paypal and then we personalise, wrap and deliver it for FREE. It is as simple as that. Alternatively, if you want to sort out the presents now because you are about to be stationed abroad, for example, we can arrange an immediate payment. Don’t worry, the present will still be sent so that it arrives in good time for the occasion, but not too early.

Q. Do you have to pay for the service?

A. No, all you have to do is pay for the present itself: the service, wrapping & delivery is all FREE saving you money as well as time.

Q. When would my recipient receive their present?

A. We always aim for the present to be delivered a few days before the occasion.

Q. What if I am unhappy with the present?

A. We have a no quibble guarantee as we want you to be 100% happy with our service – please see our returns policy for further details.

Q. What if I have forgotten my password?

A. Go to log in and follow the prompts and your details will be emailed to your chosen address.

Q. How secure are your online payments?

A. Your security is of paramount importance to us so we use Paypal which is the world’s largest online payment provider. Through this service we do not retain any of your financial data – it is all processed through Paypal. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Q. Do you share my data with third parties?

A. No - don’t worry, we have no interest in selling or trading your information with people wanting to flog you a new mortgage – we find them as annoying as you do. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

Q. What if I no longer want to use the service?

A. Even though the service is free you may wish to close your account. Please send us an email to the following email address: unsubscribe@baduncle.com for us to process your request.
